Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer in Los Angeles to lead finance, accounting, treasury, budgeting, and grant-related operations within a mission-driven organization. This executive will ensure strong internal controls and compliance across complex government-funded programs.

The role requires oversight of audits, 2 CFR Part 200 compliance, and strategic financial leadership for executives and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of governmental accounting and/or auditing experience.
• Leadership/supervisory experience in accounting or finance.
• Strong background in fund accounting, federal grants, general ledger, audits, and compliance.
• Working knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 and federally funded programs.
• Strong Excel and fund accounting software experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow, treasury, and accounting operations.
• Oversee fund accounting and federal grant management with budget-to-actual reporting by grant.
• Manage annual audits, year-end financial statements, internal controls, and Single Audit compliance.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and government funding requirements (2 CFR Part 200, HUD).
• Oversee fiscal policies, disbursements, sub-recipient monitoring, and grant compliance.
• Provide financial reporting and strategic guidance to executive leadership.
• Lead a large finance and compliance function and develop robust departmental processes.

Our client, a large mission-driven organization in Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to oversee finance, accounting, treasury, budgeting, compliance, contracts/procurement, and grant-related fiscal operations. This executive will provide strategic financial leadership while ensuring strong internal controls and compliance across complex government and federally funded programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow, treasury, and accounting operations.
• Oversee fund accounting and federal grant management, including budget-to-actual reporting by grant.
• Manage annual audits, year-end financial statements, internal controls, and Single Audit compliance.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, 2 CFR Part 200, HUD and other government funding requirements.
• Oversee fiscal policies, disbursements, sub-recipient monitoring, and grant compliance.
• Provide financial reporting and strategic guidance to executive leadership and governing stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible governmental accounting and/or auditing experience.
• Prior leadership/supervisory experience within accounting or finance.
• Strong background in fund accounting, federal grants, general ledger management, audits, and compliance.
• Working knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 and federally funded programs required.
• Strong Excel/Microsoft Office and fund accounting software experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and stakeholder-management skills.
