Job summary

Kimmel & Associates is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations for a privately held general contractor based in Mobile, Alabama. The CFO will report to the President, shape financial strategy, oversee budgeting, cash flow, and compliance, and serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of progressive financial leadership in construction, hands-on experience with WIP, job costing, and ERP systems such as Sage,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in commercial construction.
• CPA designation preferred, but not required.
• Experience with construction ERP systems such as Sage, Viewpoint/Vista, Foundations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting, finance, and financial reporting functions for the organization.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range financial planning.
• Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and financial performance analysis.
• Direct banking relationships, bonding capacity, insurance programs, audits, and tax coordination.
• Develop financial strategies that support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
• Partner with executive leadership to improve profitability, operational performance, and business planning.
• Monitor key financial metrics and provide actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting capabilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support strategic initiatives, capital planning, and long-term business objectives.
