Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is seeking a Laboratory Automation Engineer – NGS & Molecular Diagnostics to develop and optimize automated workflows for cfDNA and NGS in the South Bay Area, CA. The role combines hands-on programming of liquid-handlers with practical molecular biology expertise to translate protocols into reliable automation.

You will own projects from method development through qualification and transfer into routine operations, collaborating with assay development scientists,

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience developing and implementing laboratory automation workflows.
• Experience programming and debugging liquid‑handling robots.
• Experience with NGS library preparation and molecular biology workflows.
• Ability to translate protocols into automated methods and validate them.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, configure, and implement automated lab platforms (e.g., Hamilton, Beckman, Agilent).
• Design deck layouts, transfers, and integrated workflows for automation systems.
• Develop and maintain custom robotic methods and software integrations.
• Automate cfDNA, low‑input DNA, and NGS workflows; optimize library prep.
• Perform qualification, validation, and transfer of methods to routine operations.
• Troubleshoot automation issues and provide operational support.
