Job summary

Peraton seeks a mid-level Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) engineer to support our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD. You will contribute to jet propulsion design and development projects as part of a dynamic team.

Responsibilities include developing 3D flow models, reducing flow separation, and analyzing heat transfer for Navy aircraft systems. You will produce status reports for program managers and collaborate across groups in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• CFD simulations: setup, run, and assess quality independently.
• Rotorcraft background including rotor blade modeling.
• Experience with DoD HPC systems and Linux scripting.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; US citizenship required.
• Strong communication and cross-team briefing skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance ongoing CFD analysis projects in Propulsion and Power.
• Develop 3D flow models using in-house tools for propulsion customers.
• Reduce flow separation, predict flow-induced forcing on nozzles/inlets, and analyze heat transfer.
• Propose improved inlet/nozzle designs to boost efficiency and durability.
• Review fleet failure data and deliver accurate results to customers.
• Post-process results and write status reports for non-experts.
• Work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Learn quickly and coordinate with the Technical Lead and team.
