Job summary

NASCAR is seeking an experienced Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aerodynamics Engineer in the United States. You will oversee CFD initiatives from CAD through post-processing, produce analytical reports, and support wind tunnel testing for R&D and new vehicle submissions.

You will lead the CFD program with TotalSim USA, maintain CFD models for NASCAR's three national series, and assist with wind tunnel testing, data analysis, and the vehicle submission process while collaborating with internal

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; Master's preferred.
  • 1–2 years related experience or training, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CATIA, Beta CAE ANSA, OpenFOAM, Siemens STAR-CCM+, ParaView or similar tools desirable.
  • Background in automotive aerodynamics, especially high-performance or racing vehicles.
  • Strong interest in race car aerodynamics, CFD and how aerodynamics affect single-vehicle performance to full-field behavior.
  • Solid fundamentals in aerodynamics and CFD, including lift/drag, ground effects, and numerical methods.
  • Ability to interpret wind tunnel and on-car data.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee NASCAR CFD initiatives, running simulations from CAD model creation through post-processing.
  • Produce detailed analytical reports and wind tunnel testing support for R&D and new vehicle submissions.
  • Lead CFD program in collaboration with TotalSim USA, managing aero team concepts from CAD to post-processing.
  • Maintain CFD models for NASCAR's three national series, supporting performance evaluation and thermal studies.
  • Assist with R&D wind tunnel testing, including vehicle prep, prototype part fabrication, and data analysis.
  • Support the new vehicle submission process and communicate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Travel approximately 10%, including some weekends.
