Job summary

APM Manufacturing in California is seeking a Certified Welder to perform aerospace-grade fusion welding. AWS D17.1/D17.1M _D1.1 certification and CWI eligibility are required, with experience operating GTWA and GMAW welding machines on thin aluminum and steel. Strong blueprint reading skills are essential.

You will set up jobs, train teammates, and ensure quality using calipers and welding symbol interpretation. Warehouse environment with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • AWS D17.1_D17.1M _D1.1 Fusion Welding certification or equivalent for Aerospace applications.
  • Certified Welding Inspector is required.
  • Experience with GTWA and GMAW welding machines and reading blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Operate GTWA and GMAW welding machines.
  • Weld thin Aluminum (0.035-0.060) and steel.
  • Read basic measurements with calipers.
  • Understand welding symbols per AWS 2.4.
  • Advanced blueprint reading.
  • Own tools: welding helmet, gloves, clamps, pliers, etc.
  • Set up own jobs, support welding team, train, and approve jobs.

Position Summary:

Certified Welder must have certification to AWS D17.1_D17.1M _D1.1 or equivalent Fusion Welding for Aerospace application Specifications, and CWI certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to operate GTWA and GMAW Welding Machines
  • Able to Weld thin Aluminum 035-060 and Steel
  • Able to understand basic measurements using calipers
  • Basic understanding of welding symbols per AWS 2.4
  • Advanced Blueprint reading
  • Must own all tools to complete jobs, welding helmet, gloves, clamps, pliers etc.
  • Must be able to set-up own jobs, support welding team, train, and approve jobs

Experience:

MIG welding: 10 years (Preferred)

  • Tig Welding: 10 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
  • Certified Welding Inspector (Required)

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees. Must know how to read and write English language.

Mathematical Ability: Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Basic

Certificates and Licenses: High School Diploma or GED, AWS D17.1_D17.1M _D1.1 Mig & Tig welding.
