Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Primary duties

Visual welding inspection of poles and heavy structural steel assemblies for compliance with specified detail drawings, AWS, and AISC specifications.

Qualifications

• Must be a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
• 3 - 5 years of experience in welding heavy steel assemblies, preferably with inspection experience
• Ability to read and understand shop drawings, especially weld symbols
• Basic knowledge of ASIC and AWS national codes
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement techniques (desired)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and follow directions

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of welded joints at the assigned plant
• Ensure welded steel meets specifications and inspections are completed to support workflow
• Report and document inspection results for certification
• Perform in-process weld inspections on poles and steel assemblies
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and standards of moderate complexity
• Assist in identifying and resolving quality non-conformances
• Support shop employees with QC questions and clarifications

Educational Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CWI certification
