Job description

Job Summary

As a welding inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting and assessing the strength and quality of welds, ensuring the correct equipment is used, checking weld specifications, and ensuring all safety regulations are followed.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Manage weld procedure training and qualification.
• Assess skills of welders and prospects.
• Communicate with customers regarding weld procedures and compliance with API 1104 and/or ASME IX standards.
• Verify welding specifications for each job.
• Ensure proper equipment and materials are used for welding.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and adherence to standards.
• Evaluate the strength and quality of welds.
• Suggest alternative welding techniques when appropriate.
• Demonstrate correct welding procedures to team members.
• Develop and implement new welding techniques.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Ensure welders comply with state health and safety regulations.
• Travel up to 20% between locations and customer sites.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass pre-employment assessments, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Certifications such as CSWIP, AWS, HNC, HND, or NVQ.
• Previous relevant work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Observant and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
