Job summary

The role requires handling diverse welding positions, passing the 6GR qualification, and performing related surface prep, cleaning, and minor repair work as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified welder with a verifiable certification from an employer or certifying agent.
• Welding processes include FCAW, GTAW and GMAW; pass company-administered 6GR qualification test.

Responsibilities

• Welds metal components such as pipelines per layout, blueprints, diagrams or work orders using electric arc-welding equipment.
• Selects electrode and feeds through welding gun; connects cables to adjust amperage and voltage as specified.
• Starts power supply and strikes arc to deposit weld metal and join workpieces.
• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, angled or overhead positions and inspects bead size and specs.
• May apply filler rod, clean or degrease weld joints, and repair broken parts or prepare surfaces for welding.
• May preheat workpieces and position clamp or jig assemblies.
• May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding.
• Will lift up to 100 lbs and work at heights exceeding 6 feet.
