Job description

This position is based in Vermillion, SD, but travels throughout the Midwest.

O'Connor Kiln and Dryer, Inc. is a veteran-owned company that specializes in rotary kiln and dryer maintenance, as well as other types of drums.

Pay Range: $26 - $30 per hour.

Shifts: 12-hour shifts (potential overnight shifts), Monday through Sunday. Must be able to travel to customer job sites.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Professional Certification (e.g., AWS welding certificate) is REQUIRED.
• Proven experience as a certified welder with 2+ years of AWS certified welding experience.
• Experience using various welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.).
• Experience with electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective gear (face shield, gloves, etc.).
• Attention to detail and dexterity.
• Proficient in English.
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test, physical wellness exam, and in-house welding performance test.

Responsibilities:

• OSHA 10 certification is REQUIRED.
• Complete all required safety training.
• Read blueprints and drawings; take or read measurements for layout and procedures.
• Select appropriate welding equipment or methods based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders and prepare parts for welding.
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions.
• Repair machinery and components by welding and filling gaps.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces to detect flaws.
• Maintain equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
