Job summary

Eye Care for Animals St. Charles, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our ophthalmology team. This full-time role supports veterinarians, educates clients, and maintains medical records in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

  • CVT credential required; 1–2 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections.
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and using monitoring equipment.
  • Ventilator knowledge; strong team player; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Communicate with clients about health concerns and provide guidance, medications, and treatments.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
  • Obtain health history from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Mentor and support fellow team members.

Eye Care for Animals St. Charles is looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance , medications, and additional treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Certified Veterinary Technician(CVT) required
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience highly preferred
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment is required
  • Ventilator knowledge

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $26-28/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
