Job summary

Eye Care for Animals St Charles, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our ophthalmology team. This full-time role supports veterinarians, assists in surgeries, educates clients, and maintains accurate medical records.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, with on-call rotation and a schedule that includes M-Th 7a-5p and Fri 9a-1p. Growth opportunities through Thrive Pet Healthcare programs are available.

Qualifications

• CVT certification required.
• 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred.
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, injections, and blood work.
• Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and equipment.
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act.
• Communicate with clients about health concerns and offer guidance, medications, and treatments.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
• Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, keep areas clean and organized, and maintain labs.
• Mentor and support fellow team members.

Eye Care for Animals St. Charles is looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

Role Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance , medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Certified Veterinary Technician(CVT) required
• 1-2 years of clinical experience highly preferred
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
• Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment is required
• Ventilator knowledge
• Team player
• Eager to learn and self-motivated
• Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $26-28/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
