PETS Emergency Hospital is looking to add a full-time Lead Emergency Veterinary Technician to their team!

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our precious patients. Your work will include hands-on care, outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, and support services like admitting and discharging patients.

The Emergency Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for veterinary nursing duties and providing direction to veterinary technicians and assistants. The Shift Lead technician should be knowledgeable in various areas and able to train staff, including client service, communication, clinical pathology, radiology, animal nursing care, anesthesia, surgical assistance, and emergency medicine. The shift lead should uphold the hospital's core values and maintain professional composure.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and positive patient flow.
  • Assist in surgeries and procedures according to state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and treatment options.
  • Maintain medical records and relevant health history.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Mentor and support team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • REQUIRED: Active LVT/RVT or CVT
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical veterinary experience
  • Experience in Emergency and Critical Care or Specialty medicine
  • Knowledge of common disease processes and treatments
  • Strong medical math skills
  • Ability to monitor vital signs and interpret clinical signs
  • Experience with digital radiography
  • Prepare animals and instruments for surgery
  • Provide surgical assistance and post-operative care
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Technical proficiency and commitment to a stress-free environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, starting at $25-$30/hour. The actual rate will consider skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
