Job summary

Veterinary Hospital at the Lake is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our small animal care team in Sherrills Ford, NC. You will support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, lab work, and client education, ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth clinical operations.

Ideal candidates hold state licensure as a veterinary technician, are willing to work on-call shifts, and can lift up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of employment.
• Must be available to work on-call shifts (30 days prior notice given for these dates).
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; assistive lifting over 25 pounds as needed.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
• Assist in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and providing client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies; assist with keeping public areas clean.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all client interactions; show compassion and care for patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members including client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
