Certified Veterinary Technician - River Heights Veterinary Hospital

Oswego, IL

Full-time

RHVH is seeking a full-time CVT to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

As a CVT, you will play a vital role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will include outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, surgery assistance, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • Veterinary technician licensure required

  • 2 years of clinical experience preferred

  • Surgical, anesthesia, and dental experience required

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist veterinarians and the medical team in maximizing productivity and maintaining positive patient flow across hospital functions.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures following your state's Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Communicate with clients regarding pet health concerns and provide guidance on Thrive Memberships, medications, and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Mentor and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, ranging from $18-$23/hr. The final rate considers skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
