Job summary

Alton Animal Clinic is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, lab testing, and client education. This role emphasizes high-quality patient care, teamwork, and clear communication with clients.

Compensation ranges from $20 to $26 per hour with a $500 sign-on bonus. Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement options, ongoing professional development and licensing reimbursement. Full-time or part-time roles may apply.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in the state of employment
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift over 25 pounds with assistance
• Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS Office
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery.
• Assist with outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights; provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during surgery.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about client discussions and patient plans.
• Other duties as assigned
