Job summary

Alton Animal Clinic is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, and client education. A $500 sign-on bonus is available and pay ranges from $20 to $26 per hour.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a veterinary technician.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Experience with anesthesia, surgery, and laboratory testing preferred.
• Strong communication and client education skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine, surgery, and related tasks.
• Assist with outpatient exams: take histories, vital signs, weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain biological samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as needed.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism in client interactions and patient care.
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians and team members about plans and concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
