Responsibilities
- Coordinating and communicating with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.
- Setting up, maintaining, and removing Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
- Maintaining a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
- Driving a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner; may also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
- Communicating effectively with team members on the work site via radio.
- Following all company safety procedures and practices.
- Notifying the Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
- Achieving organizational required training within the time frame established by the Project Manager or Facility Manager.
- Providing on‑job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protectors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required.
- High School Diploma or GED completion required.
- Prior experience in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred.
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
- Must be able to follow safe workplace practices.
- Valid Driver’s License void of suspension or revocation.
- At least 18 years old.
- Mandatory out-of-town work averaging 2 weeks to 2 months.
- Valid AZ Driver’s License with a motor vehicle report that meets company guidelines.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Good communication skills.
- 1 year construction experience preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs.
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites including high noise level.
- Work may be performed in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Position may lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects.
- Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, arm, and multiple limbs) and multi-limb coordination.
