Responsibilities

• Coordinating and communicating with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.
• Setting up, maintaining, and removing Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
• Maintaining a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
• Driving a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner; may also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
• Communicating effectively with team members on the work site via radio.
• Following all company safety procedures and practices.
• Notifying the Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
• Achieving organizational required training within the time frame established by the Project Manager or Facility Manager.
• Providing on‑job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protectors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required.
• High School Diploma or GED completion required.
• Prior experience in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred.
• Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
• Must be able to follow safe workplace practices.
• Valid Driver’s License void of suspension or revocation.
• At least 18 years old.
• Mandatory out-of-town work averaging 2 weeks to 2 months.
• Valid AZ Driver’s License with a motor vehicle report that meets company guidelines.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Good communication skills.
• 1 year construction experience preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs.
• Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites including high noise level.
• Work may be performed in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Position may lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects.
• Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, arm, and multiple limbs) and multi-limb coordination.
