Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking motivated individuals for a Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) role. The position emphasizes ownership, trust, and teamwork, with outdoor, physical work and customer interaction. No college degree required.

The TCS will set up and manage traffic control devices, coordinate field staff, and ensure safety and compliance across work zones. This is a full-time, field-based role with opportunities for advancement within the company.

Qualifications

  • TCS Certification (ATSSA) or 4,000+ verifiable hours required.
  • At least 2 years of traffic control experience.
  • TMA Driver certificate.
  • Familiarity with a client-based schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable standing 8–12 hours a day.
  • Ability to lift 50–60 lbs.
  • Accustomed to working in all types of weather and traffic conditions.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening, including a drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and remove channelizing devices and traffic control equipment per guidelines.
  • Coordinate and communicate work activity for onsite personnel, including Protectors, TMA Drivers, and Pilot Car Operators.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to meet expectations.
  • Control a Flagger Station with STOP/SLOW signals.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport equipment and team members to sites.
  • Follow safety procedures and report potential issues.
  • Provide on-board training to Flaggers.
  • Complete required project documentation (PJSB, logs, inspections).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

We're seeking motivated individuals for a Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) position that values Ownership. Trust. Teamwork. No college degree required. Physical work outdoors and customer interaction are key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, maintain, and remove channelizing devices and other traffic control equipment in accordance with Federal, State, and Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans.
  • Coordinate and communicate work activity for onsite AWP personnel, including Protectors (Flaggers), TMA Drivers, and Pilot Car Operators, providing breaks and overall management of work zone operations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, maintaining a professional approach to meeting customer expectations.
  • Control a Flagger Station, standing and controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW paddle.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely, efficiently, and on time; pull lightweight trailered equipment if required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices and notify supervisors of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Provide on‑job training, coaching, and mentoring to Flaggers.
  • Obtain all AWP‑required training within the timeframe established by the Facility Manager.
  • Complete all required project documentation, including Pre‑Job Safety Briefings (PJSB), Daily Ticket Control Logs, Traffic Control Inspections, Vehicle Inspections, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Hours of operation may vary based on staffing needs and workload; typical workweek is 40 hours.
  • Majority of time is spent in the field under outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving vehicles, and extreme conditions at construction sites.
  • Loud noise levels in the work environment and on job sites.
  • Lifting or carrying objects up to 50 pounds; standing for long periods and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Benefits

Competitive Pay: $28.00‑$35.00 per hour; hourly pay based on experience with guaranteed pay increase within the first year.
