Job summary

AdventHealth Minneola Campus is seeking a Surgical Tech to join the team. The role supports the surgical team by preparing supplies, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The candidate will work with physicians and staff to ensure safe, efficient procedures in a full-time daytime schedule. Minimum 2+ years of surgical tech experience preferred; BLS certification required; salary range listed as pay range.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Technical/Vocational School preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon and informs circulating nurse throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards to facilitate cost savings and containment.
• Assembles supplies, equipment, and medications prior to procedures.
• Supports satisfaction efforts and maintains relationships with physicians and staff.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects breaks in technique.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Supervises other team members and aids in orientation and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Schedule: Full-Time Days

Shift: Weekdays with on-call requirements. Actual shift will depend on departmental needs

Location: AdventHealth Minneola Campus

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment.
• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.
• Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; and responds to complaints in a timely manner.
• Monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and takes immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique.
• Identifies and reports environmental concerns to management and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
• Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]
• Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation. [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the healthcare industry. [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies to hand surgeons the correct tools during surgeries. [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels. [Required]
• Ability to understand and process surgeon dictated instructions and directions. [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. [Required]
• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. [Required]

Field Of Study

• Currently enrolled or successful completion of an approved/accredited school for Surgical Technology

Work Experience

• 2+ years of surgical tech experience in Ortho, Robotic, Urology, Vascular or spine highly preferred.
• 1+ years relevant experience [Preferred]

Licenses And Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Surgical Technologist Certification Required

Pay Range

$21.77 - $40.48
