Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to function as scrub personnel in the OR, supporting RN Circulator and maintaining a sterile field.

Responsibilities include prepping cases with proper instrumentation, performing counts, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. High school diploma or GED plus an accredited tech program are required; one year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• Minimum one year of surgical technology experience.
• Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as scrub person in the Operating Rooms and assumes other duties as assigned.
• Sets up cases with proper instrumentation and supplies prior to start of case.
• Follows hospital policy for hand asepsis.
• Demonstrates competency as a certified scrub technologist.
• Performs accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with RN circulator.
• Maintains sterile field and ensures instruments are correctly tracked.
• Prepares specimens and delivers to pathology as needed with proper labeling.
• Maintains room readiness and assists with turnover and setup for new cases.
• Monitors equipment, temperature, and humidity and escalates issues as needed.
• Ensures patient body alignment and safety during intra-operative phase.
• Precepts new staff and demonstrates professional interpersonal skills.
• Adheres to infection control practices and hospital safety policies.
• Contributes to department productivity through efficient case turnover.
• Reports problems or changes to supervisor and supports overtime/holiday coverage.
