Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to contribute to sterile technique, instrument handling and patient safety in the operating room. You will prep OR rooms, verify implants, maintain sterile fields and perform instrument counts with the circulator.

Requires graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program and NBSTSA certification, with 0–3 years of experience. This full-time, on-site role offers a collaborative team and growth within a large health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology Program.
• Certification through NBSTSA.
• Surgical Technologist certification required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures; ensure sterile environment and proper equipment function.
• Verify availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment for perioperative processes.
• Maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment with working knowledge of each device.
• Verify sterilization method and inspect package integrity and chemical indicators; check instrument tray filters.
• Assist with positioning/prepping and establish sterile field; perform counts with circulator.
• Assist with draping, time-out verification, and maintaining sterile field to protect patient safety.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and manage medications on the surgical field under supervision.
• Assist in cleaning, decontamination prep, and terminal cleaning of instruments and rooms.
