Job summary

Qualifications

• Program graduate in Surgical Technology preferred.
• Experience in the surgical setting preferred.
• Ability to follow safety and aseptic protocols.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physicians to meet the surgical patient's needs.
• Anticipates supply/equipment needs for cost-effective planning.
• Monitors departmental needs; accommodates shift changes as needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique and records breaks in technique per standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge of instrument, equipment, and supply use.
• Ensures safe practices per National Patient Safety Goals and RHS policies.
• Maintains and communicates changes to preference cards.
• Builds collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Participates in supply utilization reviews and equipment evaluations.
• Supports training of team members, volunteers, and students.
• Assists perioperative RN and team in patient care.
• Handles specimens and surgical counts accurately and promptly.
• Shows urgency to support patient care and department needs.
• Addresses customers' needs regardless of assignment.
