Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is launching a new heart program at Lake Forest Hospital, seeking a Surgical Technologist to help establish a cardiovascular service and set a new standard in heart care for the community.

You will prepare the operating suite, assist with patient positioning, and support cross-location training as the program grows. Prior CVOR or OR experience and CST certification within 12 months of hire are preferred. Sign-on bonus available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR - Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire

• At this time, our team is seeking candidates with prior CVOR or OR experience.
• This is an exciting new program for Lake Forest Hospital! Candidates hired would train at a few other Northwestern Medicine locations.
