Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, with prior surgical technology practice in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009, OR
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or military surgical technology training

Experience

• Preferred: 1 year current operating room experience

Licenses and Certifications

• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (upon hire, from an accredited program OR employed before September 1, 2009, OR military training)
• LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse (upon hire)
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care, maintained quarterly)

Responsibilities

• Display intra-operative skills conducive to desirable outcomes
• Assist in peri-operative care, including preoperative planning and postoperative duties under supervision
• Contribute to infection prevention and patient safety
• Provide age-specific patient care for all age groups
• Participate in continuous quality improvement
