Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Day Shift. The role supports the operating room team, assisting with sterile and unsterile supplies, patient transfers, and positionings under direct nursing supervision.

The ideal candidate has a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, NBSTSA CST certification, BLS certification, and at least one year of scrub experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA.
• Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required. New Requirement as of 10/1/2023, uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification.
• Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
• On-Call- Weekend and Holidays (Required).

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
• Transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
• Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
• Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.

Position Purpose

Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses and in accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.

What You Will Do

• Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
• Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
• Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA
