Boone Memorial Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our surgical services team on a per diem basis. This position plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, assisting the surgical team, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout each case.

Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is a growing, rural Critical Access Health System located in Madison, West Virginia. At the core of our system is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, which is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification as a surgical technologist preferred, or similar experience in practical nursing or operating room procedures
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and surgical safety protocols
Preferred:
- 1–2 years of recent experience working in a surgical setting
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical instruments and equipment prior to each procedure
- Sterilize and organize tools, maintaining a sterile field at all times
- Assist surgeons by handing instruments and supplies as needed
- Monitor counts of instruments and supplies before and after procedures
- Assist in prepping patients for surgery and supporting post-operative care
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and other hospital departments
- Maintain inventory and report supply needs

Required Skills, Qualifications, And Competencies
- Surgical Technicians require the ability to use their hands quickly and with precision.
- The ideal candidate must be an honest and ethical person in order to work in this position based on trust.
- Keeping operating rooms sterile requires a keen attention to detail.
- Surgical Technicians need communication skills to adequately relay any and all relevant patient details to all members of the surgical team.
- An effective Surgical Technician must have good listening skills in order to comprehend and quickly respond to the needs of the surgical team during a procedure.
- A good memory is necessary in order to avoid the repetition of lengthy explanations for tasks that need to be completed.
- A Surgical Technician will need physical endurance to stand for long periods of time.
- A successful Surgical Technician must be comfortable working under pressure

Required Education And Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification as a surgical technologist preferred, or similar experience in practical nursing or an operating room
- Continuing in-services and educations program required
- Current Basic Life Support certificate required
- Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies located in the operating room
Preferred Education And Experience
- 1-2 years experience working as a surgical technologist
