Job summary

Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas - Winchester is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support operating room teams. The role focuses on sterile technique, instrument handling, and maintaining a safe surgical environment.

You will prep ORs, assist surgeons, verify counts, position patients, and collaborate with anesthesia and nursing staff to ensure high-quality care. On-call duties require timely reporting and strict adherence to aseptic protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
• Current CST certification required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• On-call with 30-minute report time.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Anticipates the needs of surgeons and assists by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery.
• Verifies instrument, sponge, and needle counts according to established policies and procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning, skin preparation, and operating room setup.
• Handles surgical specimens according to policy and procedure.
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Documents required information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
