JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Certified Surgical Technologist will aid the professional nurse or doctor in giving patient care to those patients requiring surgical procedures during the operative and immediate post-operative recovery phase, in accordance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Requirements
Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completing high school. Graduate from an accredited educational program for Surgical Technology preferred.
Formal Training: Outpatient care experience. Hospital experience. Ability to use and apply medical expertise. Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certification as CST/Scrub Tech required within 12 months of hire date. Must have and maintain BLS-CPR certification.
Work Experience: Two years of hospital experience required. One-Year related experience in an operating room setting as a Surgical Technologist (preferred), and/or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
