Job summary

Lutheran Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technician – Certified to support the operating room in Fort Wayne, IN. The role prepares sterile fields, anticipates surgeon needs, and maintains instrument handling and inventory per infection control standards.

The position requires CST and BLS certifications, with 0–2 years OR experience. The candidate will assist with patient positioning, documentation, and OR readiness on a per-diem basis.

Qualifications

• Technical/associates degree in surgical tech is required.
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical tech experience required.
• CST and BLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and ensure instruments and supplies are available per procedure.
• Maintain sterile field and follow aseptic technique throughout surgery.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments quickly and accurately.
• Inspect, clean, and sterilize instruments per policy.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping under RN direction.
• Support physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restock supplies and prepare rooms for next cases.
