Job summary

UAB Medicine's Main OR is seeking a Surgical Technologist for PRN coverage in the Birmingham area. The role involves preparing the operating room, handing instruments, and assisting with patient positioning and draping under surgeon supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a BLS cert and NBSTSA or NCCT credentials, with a high school diploma and surgical tech program. Associate degree is preferred; benefits are available for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NBSTSA or NCCT within 30 days of hire.
• High school diploma equivalency plus surgical technologist program; an associate/technical degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.
