Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to facilitate effective surgical procedures at Central Dupage Hospital. The role demands the preparation of the surgical suite, assisting in patient positioning, and instrument passing during surgeries.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program and obtain CST certification within twelve months of hire. This full-time position includes participating in call coverage averaging 32 hours over a 6-week cycle, with shared holiday coverage.

Qualifications

Call Coverage Expectations

Full-time staff participate in non-specialty call coverage, averaging 32 hours over a 6-week cycle (2 weeks on call, followed by 4 weeks off). All team members share coverage for winter and summer holidays. Excluded services: cardiac, neuro, and ortho specialties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire
• CPR – Basic Life Support
