Qualifications

• Certification as Surgical Technician is required upon hire.
• PA or NJ certification acceptable; new graduates may start with certification within six months.
• On-the-job training minimum 1.5 years with an 8-week orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
• Scrub, gown, and glove self and team.
• Set up sterile table with instruments and supplies and medications.
• Perform counts with circulator prior to incision and before closing the incision.
• Assist with draping sterile field and passing instruments to the surgeon.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with safety policies throughout the procedure.
• Handle surgical specimens and sharps per OR policies.
