Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Cardiovascular OR at Via Christi, St Francis in Wichita, KS. You will prepare high-tech operative environments by coordinating sterile instruments and supplies, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during complex cardiovascular and neurosurgical cases.

The role supports patient safety by tracking instrument counts and maintaining a sterile field, while assisting surgeons with hemostasis and patient positioning for optimal access.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date (AHA or ARC accepted).
• NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential obtained prior to hire date.
• NCCT TS-C credential obtained prior to hire date.
• AST CST credential obtained prior to hire date.

• Support critical clinical outcomes by assisting surgeons with hemostasis and patient positioning to ensure optimal surgical access and safety.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Educational Foundation: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Specialized Scrub Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience scrubbing for cardiothoracic or neurosurgical procedures.
