Job summary

Barstow Community Hospital in Barstow, CA is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) to support intraoperative care under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services and a Registered Nurse.

The CST will assist with preparation and handling of supplies, maintain a safe environment, and transport patients as needed.

Education/Certification: High school diploma or National CST certification; CPR within 2 months of hire; one year OR experience preferred; knowledge of autoclaves.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or national CST certification.
• National Association of Surgical Technologists CST certification required.
• CPR certification required (within 2 months of hire).
• Experience in an operating room preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist intra-operatively with sterile instrument handling and setup.
• Maintain a safe, sterile environment and support surgeon needs.
• Transport patients and assist as needed during procedures.

Description

Certified Surgical Tech (CST)

Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, and a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist works intra operatively in the preparation and handling of supplies and equipment to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgeon environment for the patients. The Surgical Technologist will perform as a team member for the common good of the patient take responsibility for personal action.

Education: High school graduate or Certification from national association of surgical technologist

Certification from National Association of Surgical Technologist required

CPR certification required (must obtain within 2 months of hire).

Experience

• One year experience in a main operating room within the last two years preferred.
• Basic knowledge of scrub role.
• Handling of instruments, set up, anticipates surgeons needs.
• Knowledge of autoclaves.
• Transporting patients.
