Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in Texas seeks a Lead Surgical Technologist to support cardiac and transplant procedures. You will scrub, assist surgeons, maintain sterile fields, and ensure efficient operating room turnover in a high-demand setting.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist at HCA Healthcare, you’ll be a vital part of a highly-skilled team that shares in your passion for cardiac surgery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and organizing the surgical suite with the right instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure safe, efficient procedures
  • Supporting patients with transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while protecting their comfort, privacy, and safety
  • Scrubbing in and assisting the surgeon by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the needs of the team
  • Monitoring equipment and patient status throughout procedures, taking quick, effective action when needed
  • Maintaining a sterile field, ensuring thorough room turnover, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture
What qualifications you will need:

Education:

A. High School graduate or GED equivalent required.

B. Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.

Experience:None required (unless used in lieu of education as stated above). Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

A.NON-CERTIFIED:No license, certificate or registrations required for the Sterile Processing Department All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification..

B.CERTIFIED:Must have and maintain ONE of the following: i. CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical 1 Methodist Healthcare System Job Description Job Title: Surgical Technologist, Lead FLSA: Non-exempt Technologist) OR ii. . TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
