Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest is seeking a Per-Diem (PRN) Surgical Technologist to scrub and support the operating room team. Responsibilities include scrubbing, preparing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures to ensure patient safety.

The ideal candidate will have a surgical tech program completion, relevant certification as required, and prior ASC or hospital experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification as required by the state and/or center
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and surgical patient management
  • Understanding and application of aseptic techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in patient condition
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist plays a key role on the surgical team, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment. Responsibilities include:

Required Experience
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an ASC or hospital setting preferred
  • Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties (orthopedic, general, ENT, ophthalmology, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate surgical counts and ensure patient safety
  • Experience preparing OR suites and managing surgical equipment and supplies
