Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest is seeking a Per-Diem Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to support our ambulatory surgery operations. The role focuses on scrubbing, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring a safe, efficient operating room environment.

Responsibilities include preparing supplies, assisting with procedures, and collaborating with surgeons and staff to deliver high-quality patient care. Prior ASC experience and sterile technique expertise are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be skilled in maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.
• Proficient in preparing and handling supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes in patient condition and surgical flow.
• Excellent teamwork and communication to coordinate with surgeons and staff.

Per-Diem (PRN) Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest

The Surgical Technologist plays a key role on the surgical team, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment. Responsibilities include:

• Scrubbing for surgical procedures and maintaining a sterile field throughout the operation


• Preparing supplies, instruments, and equipment for scheduled procedures


• Demonstrating competence as a member of the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the surgeon


• Supporting the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center


• Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience


• Certification as required by the state and/or center


• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred


• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and surgical patient management


• Understanding and application of aseptic techniques


• Ability to adapt quickly to changes in patient condition


• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Required Experience:

• Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an ASC or hospital setting preferred


• Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties (orthopedic, general, ENT, ophthalmology, etc.)


• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate surgical counts and ensure patient safety


• Experience preparing OR suites and managing surgical equipment and supplies
