Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician First Assistant to support patient care in the Operating Room. You will assist in treatments and care, act as a surgical expert, and perform first assistant duties under the surgeon's direct supervision.

Responsibilities include setup/turnover, intraoperative assistance, medication handling, and wound closure techniques. The role emphasizes patient-focused care and adherence to FH standards of behavior.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• CSFA or CFA certification.
• Current CPR certification and at least three years as a Surgical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in setup and turnover of surgical cases and room turnover times.
• Anticipate surgeon's intra-operative needs to expedite procedures.
• Perform first assistant duties under direct surgeon supervision in core services.
• Assist with delegated circulating duties under RN supervision, including patient positioning.
• Verify, label, and handle medications at the surgical field under direction of RN or surgeon.
• Assist with hemostasis and closure techniques, including sutures and dressings.
• Orient new staff and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support quality improvement activities and data collection in the department.
