Job summary

BayCare Health System in Riverview is seeking a Surgical Technologist First Assistant to support the surgeon during operations and ensure optimal visualization of the surgical field.

This role requires 3+ years as a Surgical Tech with 1 year as a First Assistant, a High School diploma with Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate, and BLS with CSFA certification. On-site, full-time with occasional weekend work and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Required Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Tech and 1-year Surgical First Assistant experience.
• Required Education: High School or Equivalent and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate.
• Required License/Certification: BLS with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross and CSFA.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during surgery and support the operating room team.
• Position, prep and drape patients for procedures and provide tissue retraction.
• Assist with selecting equipment, hold incisions open, control bleeding, and close incisions.
• Communicate the surgeon’s preferences and patient needs to the team.
