Job summary

Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Assistant to join our profitable state-of-the-art ASC serving the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. The CSA works as a 1st or 2nd assistant under the surgeon's supervision to perform selected surgical tasks and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, assisting with patient positioning, and verifying medications and procedure details.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Surgical Assistant Program required; OR must hold active NBSTSA/NSAA/ABSA certification in lieu of CAAHEP SA program graduate
• Surgical Assistant Certification required within 6 months of hire
• Orthopedic service line experience required
• BLS certification required
• Must be able to work variable hours and flex with the surgical schedule and staffing needs
• Prior Surgical Assistant or First Assist experience required
• ASC experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist as 1st or 2nd assistant to surgeon under supervision
• Demonstrate instruments, equipment, supplies knowledge and sterile technique
• Position patient with devices to ensure optimal exposure
• Assist with local anesthesia injections
• Maintain sterile field and patient safety
• Verify medications, injections, labels, procedure, site and allergies with surgeon/RN
• Promote a healthy work environment and effective teamwork
• Adhere to regulations governing patient care and center operations
