Job summary

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of recent experience in a hospital surgical setting, hold necessary certifications, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program or LPN with surgical experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) required; LPN accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required.
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a hospital surgical setting.

Join the Wellstar Enterprise Support Team (WEST) as a Certified Surgical Technologist. The role provides float coverage across multiple Wellstar facilities, assisting with complex surgical cases and mastering advanced techniques.

What You'll Do

• Prepare the surgical environment: set up the sterile field, gather instruments and supplies, ensure patient safety and field integrity.
• Support the surgical team: anticipate surgeon needs, assist with instrumentation, perform counts and support time-outs, maintain sterile technique, organize the back table, and assist with specimen handling.
• Champion quality care & safety: partner with patients and team members to ensure accurate procedures, follow evidence-based practices and safety standards, and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
• Be a team player & mentor: train and precept new team members and students, stay current on surgical trends, assist with room turnover, inventory, and sterilization processes, and foster a collaborative work culture.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with surgical experience.
• Licensure / Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) required; LPN accepted.
