Job Description

Due to a new Kentucky regulation, the college credit hour requirement has been changed. Candidates with a high school diploma may apply. To work at the middle or high school level, the candidate must be 21 years or older.

Salary is commensurate with a pay scale based on applicant rank and is paid at a daily rate. Rank is determined by KRS 161.1211 .

Once hired you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your new hire forms online. It will include the checklist below:

• • Official Transcript

  • Physical examination/TB risk assessment using theMedical Examination of School Employees Form

  • Crime check [HCS will reimburse the fee. If there is anything that comes back as questionable, you will need to submit further information to the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board.]

  • Drug screening ($20 fee) (This can be reimbursed. See note below.)

  • Online safety training (free)

  • Submit a CAN check from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating you are clear to hire and have no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect. ($10 fee payable only by debit/credit card.) Fill out form HERE . Please list [e-mail] as the recipient.

    • Note: If after one year of service, the substitute accepts and completes 60 sub opportunities, the drug screen and CAN check fees will be reimbursed.
