Job summary

Gulf Island seeks a Certified Sub Arc Machine Operator to fabricate iron and steel structures in a shop setting, following contract specs and ISO/QC standards.

You will set and operate SAW and automatic welding equipment for structural and pipe work, ensuring quality to pass NDT, and you will comply with safety guidelines while read­ing instructions and performing related duties as directed.

Qualifications

• Certified Sub Arc Machine Operator required.
• Ability to pass written and practical welding tests.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate welding machine for SAW/automatic welding.
• Weld on structural and pipe projects.
• Pass AWS D1.1 tests as required.
• Maintain welding quality to pass NDT requirements.
• Follow safety practices at all times.
• Use hand tools and lifting equipment as needed.
• Read and follow written or verbal instructions.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
