Job summary

Ascension is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing professional at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, IN. You will operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate instruments, and verify instrument sets meet current standards. The role supports case carts with inventory management and participates in quality assurance audits.

The position requires CRCST or HSPA/CBSPD credentials and a high school diploma or equivalent, with a Full Time evening schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. CRCST certification preferred.
• CRCST or CS tech credential from HSPA/ CBSPD prior to hire date or transfer date.

Responsibilities

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments and containers for cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments and equipment per IFUs and protocols.
• Select correct instrument sets per current standards and tracking systems.
• Maintain inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.
• Conduct regular quality assurance audits among peers.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• One or more of the following required:
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
