Job Summary and Qualifications

The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for proper decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and storage of instrumentation for surgery and other departments.

What you will do in this role:

  • Prepare instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing, and storing procedures.
  • Understand principles of sterilization techniques and operate sterilization equipment.
  • Assemble all instruments, trays, and drill trays for operating rooms according to policies and procedures.
  • Perform equipment distribution, routing, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Restock/exchange crash carts.
  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current enrollment in or graduation from a Central Sterile Technician Program required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) through IAHCSMM or CBSPD required within 1 year of employment.
  • Prior related experience preferred.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital near downtown Chattanooga, offering comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services including cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility features a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program, OB-GYN services, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and behavioral health centers for children and adults.
