**Details**

+ Department: Sterile Processing

+ Schedule: Evenings, 3p-11:30p, M-F

+ Hospital: Ascension St. Vincent

+ Location: Carmel, IN

This position supports our Carmel location. Candidates must have a CRCST certification and significant experience in sterile processing operations, preferably with orthopedics and neuro cases. On-call duties are rotating, including weekends (approximately once every 2 months) and holidays.

**Responsibilities**

  1. Inspect, assemble, and evaluate surgical instruments and sets for quality, need for repair, completeness, and sterilization effectiveness.
  2. Operate sterilization equipment; inspect instruments, equipment, and containers for cleanliness and proper function.
  3. Perform decontamination of soiled instruments and equipment following instructions for use (IFUs) and protocols.
  4. Correct instrument sets according to standards, count sheets, and tracking systems.
  5. Maintain inventory levels for case carts.
  6. Conduct quality assurance audits of peers regularly.

**Requirements**

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
  • Credentialed Central Service Technician specializing in Sterile Processing from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), obtained before hire or transfer.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of applicable job experience.
  • Note: Professional licensure/certification can substitute for education or experience if applicable.
