Job summary

Ascension Seton Northwest is seeking an Evening Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical services in Austin, TX. The role focuses on sterilization, decontamination, instrument inspection, and accurate tracking of instrument sets, with negotiable evening hours.

Responsibilities include operating sterilization equipment, maintaining inventory for case carts, and performing quality assurance audits of peers to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold CBSPD or HSPA Central Service credential prior to hire.
• High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of related experience.
• Evening shift; hours negotiable.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • One or more of the following:
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

• 2-5 years experience in sterile processing
• Evening shift. Hours negotiable
