The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for preparing, sterilizing equipment/instruments andtracking them in an accurate and timely manner.

This role also prepares operating room case carts, steriletrays and supplies for all areas of the hospital.

STERILE PROCESSING CLINICAL DUTIES:

• Prepares instrumentation and equipmentfor sterile processing.
• Verifies the sterilization process.
• Decontaminates andreprocesses all reusable equipment and instrumentation.
• Checks equipment forcleanliness, functional use; inventories and documents the quantity of each instrumentper tray/container and wraps trays and product for sterilization in accordance withestablished policies and procedures.
• Performs required biological and Bowie-Dick testson a daily basis and records corresponding results.
• Records autoclave load contentsand required statistics in a complete and accurate manner.
• Prepares case carts for theoperating room based surgical needs and supplies.
