The role focuses on sterilization, decontamination, instrument tracking, inventory maintenance, and QA audits within a busy sterile processing department.

Minimum credentials include CBSPD or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association certification, with a high school diploma equivalency or related experience.

Qualifications

• One or more of the following credentials: CBSPD Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing, or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association credential, obtained prior to hire or transfer date.
• High school diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required. The credential can be used in lieu of education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to IFUs and established protocols.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
